Describe Galvanized Steel Reinforcement Mesh for Masonry and Plastering

Overview of HAN Galvanized Steel Reinforcement Mesh for Masonry and Plastering

HAN galvanized steel reinforcement mesh for masonry and plastering is a diamond-pattern expanded metal mesh manufactured from specialized galvanized steel through a precision slitting and expanding process, forming long, continuous mesh sheets.

The mesh is used in masonry, wall plastering, floor screeding and tile installation to improve bonding and reinforce mortar layers.

Featuring a specially designed diamond pattern, HAN galvanized steel reinforcement mesh provides excellent mortar adhesion and high tensile strength. It helps minimize cracking in plaster, masonry mortar and floor screeds caused by material shrinkage or impact, while improving the stability and durability of the mortar layer.

Its flat profile allows the mesh to bond effectively with plastering mortar, floor screed and concrete, creating a stable reinforced structure with high tensile strength. This improves resistance to stress, vibration and expansion or contraction caused by temperature changes. HAN galvanized steel reinforcement mesh is supplied in rolls for convenient installation, handling and transportation.

Identifying Features of HAN Galvanized Steel Reinforcement Mesh

No. Criterion Conventional Low-Cost Steel Mesh HAN Galvanized Steel Reinforcement Mesh
1 Common names Expanded metal mesh, plaster mesh, woven mesh, chicken wire, anti-crack mesh, etc. Galvanized steel reinforcement mesh for masonry and plastering
2 Design Usually diamond-patterned, with weak strands that can break easily and may contain multiple broken mesh openings. Specially designed diamond-pattern mesh with strong, consistent strands and no broken mesh openings.
3 Appearance Dark surface or visible rust Bright metallic finish with good corrosion resistance
4 Material Black steel with an oil coating, resulting in lower strength and weaker mortar adhesion. Galvanized steel without an oil coating, providing high tensile strength and optimum mortar adhesion.
5 Quality Irregular openings, uneven or wavy surfaces, and stretched edges Uniform mesh openings, a naturally flat surface and straight edges

Available Sizes of HAN Reinforcement Mesh

HAN reinforcement mesh is currently available in standard widths of 100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 1,000 and 1,200 mm to suit common masonry and plastering requirements. Custom widths can also be manufactured upon request.

Material Used for HAN Galvanized Steel Reinforcement Mesh

HAN galvanized steel reinforcement mesh is manufactured from a specialized steel alloy with corrosion-resistant properties, helping improve tensile strength and meet applicable construction standards.

HAN Reinforcement Mesh Manufacturing Technology

HAN reinforcement mesh is produced on a modern, high-capacity and fully integrated production line with a very low defect rate. This ensures fast delivery of large quantities according to customer requirements.

How to Select and Use Reinforcement Mesh for Optimum Technical and Economic Efficiency

To achieve the best results when using reinforcement mesh for masonry and plastering, customers should consider the following:

  • Select a mesh width that meets the technical requirements and minimizes on-site cutting time.
  • Choose rolls measuring 20–50 m in length to maintain a straight, continuous mesh and minimize overlaps.
  • Select corrosion-free rolls with a flat, even surface and straight, unstretched edges. This allows faster and more accurate installation.
  • During installation, pull the mesh taut, secure it flat against the substrate and ensure that it is fully embedded within the mortar layer.
  • Reinforcement mesh should be installed at key locations, including:
    • Junctions between masonry walls and concrete columns;
    • Chases for electrical conduits, water pipes and copper pipes;
    • Internal and external corners where two walls meet; and
    • Diagonal areas around door and window openings.
  • Prepare an accurate quantity takeoff before ordering to match the construction requirements and reduce material costs.
  • For special requirements, contact HAN's technical department for advice.

Transportation and Storage of HAN Reinforcement Mesh

Transportation precautions:

  • Do not drag the mesh rolls along the ground or throw them down from a height.
  • Transport the mesh on a truck with a flat bed and a roof or waterproof cover to protect it from rain.

Storage precautions:

  • Store the mesh in a dry, elevated and well-ventilated area, away from direct contact with soil, mud, moisture and mould.
  • Do not stack the rolls too high or place heavy objects on them, as this may deform the mesh.
